LOMBARDY

One-sixth of the total population of Italy lives in Lombardy. The region, which includes Lake Como and Milan, is known for many dishes such as risotto alla Milanese and osso bucco, but their most famous specialty is panettone, the Christmas raisin and candied citrus cake.

Torrone di Cremona
Torrone---nougat made with almonds, honey, egg whites--dates back centuries. It has been made in the town of Cremona since at least the early 1500s. Torrone is sold in either soft, or in classic hard versions.

Sbrisolona, a cornmeal and almond crumble, is a typical dessert from Mantuva.
