Settled in 1857, Pastiglie Leone represents a milestone in the history of the Italian candy industry and with its products has contributed to write, in the years, the most beautiful pages of confectionery. Leone's pastel-colored candies have been a delight for the sweet tooth ever since 1857, when Luigi Leone began making them in his confectioner's shop in the small town of Alba in Piedmont. Over the years Pastiglie Leone has become an authentic symbol of Turin, this being witnessed by the expression: "marca Leon" ( "Leone trademark" in the local dialect) being uttered as synonym of quality and reliability.
To the original lozenges created by Luigi Leone - friable sugary tiny buttons telling stories of ancient times, encased by delicate paper-wrapped boxes or distinctive collectable tins - new lines of classic candies have been added in the years to the company's product lines, like Jellies, Gums, Fondants and other specialities such as licorice candies.
Products include:
Candy Originals: The company's oldest and most distinctive product. These small delights are the result of a careful choice of essences, extracts and herbs to enhance the fragrance and scent of the various different flavors. Their pleasant pastel shades, making this product alluring to the eye as well as to the taste, are obtained exclusively from natural coloring agents.
Chocolate Originals: The unmistakable and classic shape of Leone's Originals, reinvented in chocolate-- miniature but intense moments of pleasure to make any time of the day sweeter.
"Liquirizia Le 2 Sicilie" line: This line, dedicated to the lovers of licorice "black pleasure", is now enhanced by three entries: Sukajs and Senators, and the Pebbles, licorice gems embraced by a delicate sugar coating.
