Baci Pie
By Francine Segan

Serves 8

Baci, which means "kisses" in Italian, is not just a delicious hazelnut-chocolate candy, but also great fun to cook with.

You'll love this incredibly easy-to-make dessert. It's an Italian version of our American Kentucky Derby chocolate pecan pie, but with hazelnuts….and lots easier to make!

1 cup sugar
1/2 cup flour
2 eggs
1/2 cup, 1 stick, unsalted butter, softened
1/4 cup Italian nut liqueur such as Frangelico or Caffo Amaretto
1 ready-made 9 or 10-inch piecrust
18 Baci, chocolate candies made by Perugina
1/3 cup chopped hazelnut

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Using an electric hand mixer or a whisk beat the sugar, flour, eggs, butter and liqueur in a bowl until smooth.

Pour the batter into the ready-made crust. Place the Baci, nut side up, onto the batter. Top with the hazelnuts.

Bake for about 45 minutes until the filling is set. Allow to cool a few minutes before cutting.
